5 Simple Ways to Save Time and Stay Organized

Time saved is time earned—be smart about the little things.

Finding time can feel impossible, but small changes can make a big difference! From organizing smarter to streamlining daily tasks, these practical tips will help you save time, reduce stress, and keep life running smoothly—so you can focus on what matters most.

1. Efficient Organization

Categorizing items is a great way to save time and stay organized. For example, I categorize my daughter’s belongings by using separate organizers for each type—one for her onesies, another for pyjamas, and separate ones for nappies and changing mats. This way, I can quickly find exactly what I need without rummaging through everything. I use the same approach in every part of my home, from the kitchen to the bathroom. Keeping everything in its place makes daily tasks smoother and more efficient.

2. Paper Convenience

Paper towels save time, which is why I decided to switch back after my daughter was born. I used to rely on fabric towels, but hand-washing them became too time-consuming, and I couldn’t justify using the washing machine for just a few cloths. Paper towels save me the effort and give me more time to focus on my baby and other things that matter most.

3. Proper Placement

I’ve learned that using appliances correctly really saves time. For example, I now make sure to place bowls on the top rack of the dishwasher instead of the bottom. The top rack is designed for smaller, lighter items like bowls, and this placement ensures they get cleaned properly without blocking the spray arms. It saves me from having to rewash items that didn’t come out clean the first time.

4. Task Efficiency

Never leave a room empty-handed! While going upstairs or coming down, I grab something useful. For example, I take laundry clothes upstairs or fill up my water bottle when coming down. This simple habit prevents unnecessary trips up and down the stairs, saving time and energy.

5. Laundry Routine

Breaking the laundry load into smaller, manageable parts has been a game-changer for saving time and reducing stress. I put one day aside for my clothes and my husband’s, another day for my daughter’s clothes, and separate days for blankets and towels. By spreading out the tasks, I avoid the overwhelm of tackling a huge pile at once. It’s quicker to fold, organize, and put things away, helping me stay on top of laundry without feeling rushed.

I’m not an expert, but these simple tips have made a big difference in saving time and keeping my home organized. I hope they help you as much as they’ve helped me!
